Melt is a pleasant, airy shop with a marble counter along one of the walls. Here you can browse and choose your own chocolates with the help of wooden trays and tongs. The kitchen is located at the back of the site, and much of the chocolate sold is made here, on site. Chocolate tastings and master classes are also sometimes held here.
Melt is well known for their award-winning fresh chocolate collection consisting of truffles, pralines, bonbons and caramels combined with spices, teas, nuts and many original and delicious recipes. All chocolates and bars are meticulously hand made. They sell a variety of dark, milk and white chocolate slabs with combinations such as blueberry and cinnamon or nutmeg and gold. There is also a large range of chocolate bars from the Melt Bar range and hot chocolate blocks are available in 6 single origin chocolates.
In addition to the Notting Hill shop, Melt has concessions at Selfridges on Oxford Street and Wholefoods on Kensington High Street. The entire collection at Melt is designed and produced in-house by a small team of chocolatiers led by Chika Watanabe from Tokyo.
Melt is a family-owned company founded in 2006 by Louise Nason. The company has a strong commitment to sourcing from companies with credentials for supporting local communities and environment. The butter and cream used in the majority of products is organic and British. The packaging is minimal and mostly recyclable.

This is a really lovely shop, with a great feel to it. Light and open, and with chocolates spread out on counters. The people here are also really friendly and helpful. I even met head chocolatier – a lady from Japan who was mixing a large vat of chocolate.
My favourite thing from here was the Melt Wild Bar (90g, £6.80). A dark chocolate bar with 68% cocoa, it has a sweet, smooth taste without a trace of bitterness. Fantastic.
